The Thing puts you in a time before the events we first saw in the original movie of the same name, The Thing, directed by John Carpenter in 1982, in a Norwegian scientific base where they discover this terrifying alien for the first time.

However in reality the story of the new The Thing follows the same as the original, more or less: a group of investigators discover a frozen alien, but it's not dead, and it can change its shape at will and become a perfect copy of any human. This provokes terror in the whole expedition, and no one can trust anyone else.
